The Governor’s Task Force on Veterans’ Services will hold a public town hall meeting in Coos Bay on Monday to discuss veterans’ issues in Oregon

The discussion will be held at 7 p.m. at the Coos Bay Armory, 255 N. Norman Ave.

With the signing of Executive Order 08-08, Gov. Ted Kulongoski formed the Task Force to compile, review and evaluate current veterans policies, procedures and programs. The Task Force is charged with developing recommendations for improvements to ensure that Oregon veterans have access to the services they need.

The Task Force and Oregon Department of Veterans’ Affairs Director Jim Willis is inviting anyone interested in veterans’ issues to participate in the town hall discussion.

For more information, call Tom Mann at the Oregon Department of Veterans’ Affairs, (503) 373-2386.

I would say that something like this (For a better choice of words) A day late and a dollar short. Where in the H!@# was this Task force when a large group of veterans including myself were attending SWOCC back in 2002, 2003, and 2004 and having a trouble getting our concerns herd? Such as employment services for one!!! Where were you Mr. Jim? I have never been so insulted in my life when I hear about things like this being addressed now. Since many of us who are Vets have lost confidence in this so called people friendly agency. What a Joke!!!
