Coos Bay
Classes for Coos Bay Public Schools will begin Tuesday, Sept. 2. Registration for students for the 2008-09 school year takes place during the following times:
Elementary Schools
Grades K-4
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21; and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 22.
Millicoma Intermediate School
Grades 5-6

Destinations Academy and Resource Link Charter School
Returning Students: from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20 and Thursday, Aug. 21.
New Students: from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m, on Wednesday, Aug. 27 and Thursday, Aug. 28.
General guidelines
All students need to complete the registration process at the school they will attend, including kindergarten children who pre-registered last spring. To enroll a child in kindergarten, parents must bring proof the child will be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1. To enroll in first grade, children must have successfully completed kindergarten or be 6 years old on or before Sept. 1. Please provide a birth certificate or other approved document for proof of guardianship/parentage if you have not already done so. Elementary students requesting or renewing out-of-zone placement for a child should complete that form during registration.
Immunization Records
Oregon law requires every child through grade 12 to submit a completed immunization record at the time of registration unless the school the child attends already has the record on file. Each school has further information as prescribed by rules of the State Health Division. Be prepared to update your student’s immunization records at registration.
Physical Examinations
Students in grades 7-12 are required to have physical examinations prior to participating in extra-curricular sports. This is a bi-annual requirement.
North Bend
North Bend kindergartners through ninth-grade students will start school Wednesday, Sept. 3. North Bend High School students will start class Thursday, Sept. 4.
Elementary, middle school
• Hillcrest Elementary: grades kindergarten through fourth, 756-8348, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Aug. 13-15.

High school registration dates and times for students new to the district are by appointment only from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Aug. 19-22.
AYA student registration is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 19. Foreign Exchange students will register from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20. Returning students will register Friday, Aug. 22.
Ninth grade from 7:45 to 9:30 a.m.; 10th grade from 10 to 11:15 a.m.; 11th grade from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m.; and 12th grade from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m.
Students new to the school should call 751-7183 after Aug. 14 to make an appointment for pre-registration.
Returning students at North Bend High School may pick up a schedule change request form in Student Services (751-7183). Parents must sign this form. Requests will be reviewed by counselors.
Athletics
Students planning on participating in athletics are required to have a physical examination performed by a physician prior to practice and competition. The examination must be performed every two years and also should be performed no earlier than May 1 of the preceding school year.
Bandon
Registration begins Monday at Bandon public schools. Bandon school employees are ready to greet parents and returning students. They are planning registration events next week. Here’s the schedule.
Bandon High School
Registration is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 18-22.
All students, new or returning, must register. Proof of immunization should be brought to registration.

High school fall sports practice begins Aug. 18. All paperwork must be completed and turned in, and current physicals must be on file in the high school office before players can practice. Harbor Lights Middle School
Registration for students entering grades 5-8 at Harbor Lights Middle School will begin Monday and continue daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Thursday, Aug. 28.
All students, new or returning, must register. Parents of students registering in the district for the first time must provide immunization records at the time of registration. Student body fees are $10 per student. Free and reduced-price meal applications are available to students who qualify. Classes begin Tuesday, Sept. 2.
All incoming seventh- and eighth-grade students who plan to participate in fall sports must have a physical on file in the middle school office before they can begin practice. Physical forms and athletic eligibility forms are available at the middle school office.
