Obama is wrong man for America

All voters need to know as much as possible about the people they vote for and certainly, when it comes to the highest office, knowledge is crucial. There is an old poem that explains how important it is to choose the right associates. It ends like this:You can tell a man who boozes by the company he chooses, and the pig got up and slowly walked away.

Obama has made some very poor choices of companions. Every one has heard of pastor Wright and the terrorist Ayers and his wife, who blew up government buildings and Rezko. But long before a dedicated communist, Frank Marshall Davis, introduced Obama to the belief that America is an evil racist country and when Obama moved to Chicago, he was surrounded by people with the same beliefs in Marxist doctrine, people who helped him get into politics.

Obama has been pushing for a global poverty tax, money for Africa administered by the United Nations. He favors an international criminal court, a great danger to our troops. The law of the sea treaty to give the UN control of all minerals and oil in the sea and socialized medicine, something that has failed whenever tried.

All these things would require huge tax increases and destroy our economy. This election will determine the future of our children, we can’t afford to elect the wrong man.

America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!

Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:

1) Consumer confidence plummet;
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon and crude to $117 a barrel;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.

Please vote Republican and give the Dems the boot!

TB - "...and yes I'm aware McCain used the "Gender Card"...but he didnt cry "Womens opression".
That is the definition of playing the gender card. You're contradicting yourself.

Also.... (thinly veiled) closet racists use the word "ego" instead of "uppity" when they want to say a black man doesn't "know his place". If he was white he would be "resolute", "strong", or "determined".

Sadly, the GOP, like the Dems no longer represent their traditional positions.

The GOP tries to slop over its lack of leadership with moralism

The Dems aren't democrats, they're Marxist and an honest self-assessment would verify the fact.

Back to your question: The present primary system is so badly broken that it puts machines and media influence far ahead of honest assessment of candidates' stand on the issue. It's all about momentum.

A later primary would put proper focus on the issues. Moreover, the cross-over activity in the primaries is simply evil. No one supports the efforts of either GOP or Dems gets shut out and there are plenty of third-party options.

But compared to Obama, he is very uncomfortable mentioning his beliefs (not that it's werong to keep those things private), is the only candidate who, as a 42 yeear-old, hooked up with a rich 24 year-old and abandoned his crippled wife, and has a first reaction to bomb in every situation (who would Jesus bomb?).

I do agree with you on the saying "All it takes for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing", but if torching our constitution, giving away our treasury to corporations, and behaving like Stalinist Russia in imperial pursuits isn't evil, what is? Many of the younger generations see the hypocrisy that is the Republican Party and those who support it. Lois and any other Republican can spout their fearful nonsense, as it is their right. For those who do not agree with them, they will label you as a Liberal, and call you any name under the book. Nonetheless, they will not influence my vote, as I know the truth.

I will cast my vote for Obama!

Every oppinion I have read on this page gives me the impression that most of you are relying only on what your peers share with you as your source of information. I hope every one of you casts a ballot this election.

Rich wrote on Aug 15, 2008 10:13 PM:

I agree with Lois completely. Obama and most of the leadership in the Democratic party follow the doctrines of the Socialist party. I also agree with others who responded to Lois's letter. The Republican party has not done much for us either. The problem however isn't that the Republican party has been too conservative and should have gone with the Democrats on the issues. Quite the opposite. The Republican party has followed too much of the Democrats points on the issues. Especially after 2006 when the Democrats won the majority of both the House and Senate. Therefore, the economic disaster we have today. Neither McCain or Obama are the right men to lead this great nation today. We need a leader who will give us the opportunity to live our own lives, solve our own problems. The government just needs to get out of the way.

Unfortunately, we do not have that option this election the best we can hope for is to elect a president who will cause the least damage. That is not Obama. His socialist views will cause the same results that Socialism has caused the world over every time it has been tried.

I was born and raised in Coos Bay and noticed many of the older residents are staunch Republicans. I personally do not care to vote Republican this round because all they seem to care about is their own pocketbooks, oil and war. All the material things and not the realistic matters for the welfare of the people that actually support them!
McCain (McBush) is not the man. Yes, he spent years as a POW but he came back ALIVE and in one piece! How did he accomplish that? That does not make him more of a hero than any other man or woman that has or currently is serving our country. He is a vindictive, mean old man, brought up in a military fashion trained for war. We don't need that.

"You're mistaken" thank you for your opinion. I'm sorry, I still don't trust ANY politician. And it seems funny to me, how people pick out "parts" of comments to comment on. I am still entitled to my own opinion, as are the rest of you. I don't think ANY of them will EVER restore the constitution, because if "we the people" allow them to change one part, they will continue to change all of it. God Bless you all, and keep thinking how you want, just quit trying to beat other people up for their opinions.

Local Lady wrote on Aug 15, 2008 8:59 AM:

Lois-your rantings are just that: rantings. I didn't read a sensible, educated word in that whole letter! Obama is the man we need in office and he is the man we WILL have in office. Open your eyes woman! Look at all the good the Republicans have done for us which is pretty much NOTHING!!!! They brought this war, they screwed up our healthcare, they killed our economy. I could go on. We need Mr. Obama's youthful fresh ideas to bring that "change we can believe in." And I believe he will do it. Personally I was for Hillary in the beginning but now with it down to the wire, Obama is our man!!!

C wrote on Aug 14, 2008 8:32 PM:

It's not like things could get much more worse than they are now. You're just going to get more of the same from McCain.

Is Ms. Bowen making this up? I have never heard Obama commit to any of these lies!! This is outrageous!! To check on whether this is true, go to www.snopes.com . This is a tried and true site.

If you plan to vote for McCain don't expect him to restore the constitution. He is the same as Bush.

Let's see he formed a few companies with Osama's Older brother who although a great pilot crashed mysteriously and died.. Then oh what else was there well.. WE could go back to Prescott Bush his grandaddy.. Now he worked for the bank that helped fund Aushwitz.. And the list goes on and on.

I can only pray we do not get Obama for president. Although, I think we should start all over, I really don't like either one. And before you beat me up, I am an independant because I think the "political parties" seperate the people and pit one against the other. Just look and read some of the comments. I really don't like either one, but if I had to choose, I'd go with more experience, sorry guys. No I'm not! I wish people would quit bashing other people on here. Posting your comments is fine, last time I checked, we still had freedom of speech. We'll see how long that lasts!

I think Ms. Bowen represents the elderly views of most of Coos County.
Scared of change.
"Hey you kids, get offa my lawn!"

Change is coming, we will have Obama as President.
8 years of the most disgusting Republican administration ever has opened some eyes and even the low information voter is tired of voting against their own interests.
Remember, gas was 1.48 when B*sh took office...and a loaf of bread was 1.29!
I do not need to mention the budget surplus we had in 2000, do I?

Vote Republican, its easier than thinking...

Not into it wrote on Aug 14, 2008 10:57 AM:

Ms. Bowen...
Economy? I doubt you have noticed but our economy has already been destroyed.
By the Republicans you helped elect.
I see no facts in your letter, I see only hate for things you may not understand.

Since you no doubt support McCain, perhaps your next letter should outline what a great President he will be.
Good luck with that.
And be sure to mention how McCain cheated on his first wife...with his second wife...
And owns 8 very large homes...
And his current wife stole percodan and vicodin from her clinic...and was forced to resign or face arrest...

Dont let your hate cloud your vision.

Not that theres anything wrong with it wrote on Aug 14, 2008 9:14 AM:

Rev. Jeremiah Wright blamed the US for 9/11 and named Louis Farrakhan their person of the year.
Rev. Jeremiah Wright delivered racist rants against white America for our maligning of Fidel and Gadhafi, and inventing AIDS to infect and kill black people?
If you substituted the word "white" church for "black" churcg there would be and outrage in this country!
If a white church proclaimed and pronounced it's whiteness the way that TUCC does, it would be shut down and even the ACLU couldn't protect it!!!

Trust politicians with healthcare wrote on Aug 14, 2008 9:00 AM:

So-called Universal Healthcare amplifies all problems:
1) Reduces patient incentives to find the best possible prices for the best possible services/products available.
2) Reduces physician incentives to provide competitive care and reduces drug companies' incentives to provide new drugs and treatments.
3) Steals from your wallet to pay for my health care.
4) The quality of "free" health care will deteriorate and the average citizen will get sicker.
5) Destroys your privacy.
6) Destroys your liberty.

TO THE WORLD EDITOR: I thought that personal attacks were not allowed in these comments!!!!

But wait wrote on Aug 14, 2008 8:54 AM:

"The Rev. Wright thing" was not talked about ENOUGH. Trinity United Christian is a 10,000 member church that ministers to predominantly blacks on Black liberation theology. It preaches racial segregation or "Us vs Them"
And yes, Sen. Obama was brought to his Christian faith there and stayed at that church for 20 years.

"...and when Lois Bowen moved to Coquille, she was indoctrinated into the Republican Party and then promised tax cut after tax cut."
When her grandchildren went to Iraq...when her grandchildren inherited the debt of the Republicans...

Look Ms. Bowen, you cant have it both ways...
Ayers was never convicted and did not know Obama-they sat on the same board once.
The Reverend Wright thing was blown out of proportion by the talking heads.
Besides, in your last letter, you said he was a Muslim-were you lying then or are you lying now? No Muslim would sit in a Christian church for 20 years...

Oh.."socialized medicine has failed"...
There is only one Industrialized country in the world without it...
Us.
Tell Rush Limbuagh hi for me.
