Beef recall reaches Oregon Fred Meyer stores

PORTLAND (AP) — Some ground beef processed by Nebraska Beef and sold in Fred Meyer stores was part of a recent recall.

Fred Meyer officials said the grocer pulled the meat off the shelves and posted signs explaining the recall to customers.

The U.S Department of Agriculture said the beef may be contaminated with E. coli.

Fred Meyer is encouraging customers to check refrigerators and freezers for ground beef packages with “sell by” dates of July 6 through August 11 and labels that read: “Lean Ground Beef Family Pack Not To Exceed 20% Fat.”

A spokeswoman says customers should return the beef to stores for a refund or replacement.
