North Bend school district schedules student registration dates

The buses will be rolling come Wednesday, Sept. 3, in North Bend for the first day of school for kindergarten through ninth-grade students. North Bend High School students will walk in to class Thursday, Sept. 4.
Don’t worry, for those families who haven’t registered their youngsters and teenagers, there’s still time.
The following are registration dates and times.
Elementary, middle school
n Hillcrest Elementary: grades kindergarten through fourth, 756-8348, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Aug. 13-15.
n North Bay Elementary: grades kindergarten through fifth, 756-8351, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Aug. 13-15.
n North Bend Middle School: grades fifth and sixth, 756-8341, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 12 -13.
n North Bend Middle School: grades seventh and eighth returning or new students, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19.
For kindergarten students, or children enrolling for the first time in school, parents should bring a copy of the birth certificate or proof of age and a record of immunizations.
Kindergarten students must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1.
Students returning to North Bend Middle School who have not received a registration packet by Tuesday, Aug. 14, can contact the counseling office at 751-7285.
High school times
High school registration dates and times for students new to the district are by appointment only from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Aug. 19-22.
AYA student registration is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19. Foreign Exchange students will register from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20. Returning students will register Friday, Aug. 22.
Ninth grade from 7:45 to 9:30 a.m.; 10th grade from 10 to 11:15 a.m.; 11th grade from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m.; and 12th grade from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m.
Students new to the school should call 751-7183 after Aug. 14 to make an appointment for pre-registration.
Schedules reflect the courses students and parents chose during forecasting.
Returning students at North Bend High School may pick up a schedule change request form in Student Services (751-7183).
Parents must sign this form. Requests will be reviewed by counselors.
Immunization
Current Oregon law requires the following immunizations prior to starting school and that a signed statement by a physician or the local Health Department be provided at enrollment.
n Kindergarten: diphtheria, tetanus, and polio series; measles, mumps, and rubella; hepatitis B series; chicken pox vaccination (if they haven’t contracted the disease).
n Seventh Grade: a booster for measles, mumps, and rubella; hepatitis B series; chicken pox vaccination (if they haven’t contracted the disease).
Athletics
Students planning on participating in athletics are required to have a physical examination performed by a physician prior to practice and competition.
The examination must be performed every two years and also should be performed no earlier than May 1 of the preceding school year.
Sixth graders who wish to participate in cross country also must have the exam.
All schools and offices in the district will be closed Sept. 1-5.
