The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Fish Restoration and Enhancement Board is coming to Reedsport.

The program’s seven-member citizen board reviews fish restoration and enhancement project proposals and makes funding recommendations to the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission.

Board members will meet Friday, Aug. 15, at the Reedsport City Hall, 1451 Winchester Ave.

The meeting begins at 9 a.m. and adjourns at 5 p.m.

The agenda includes a review of the latest project grant applications, an engineering report, an overview of the program budget and a discussion of the ongoing ODFW planning efforts.

The meeting is open to the public, as is a field trip to selected sites on the Smith River on Saturday, Aug. 16 from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

To join the tour, meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Best Western Salbasgeon Inn on Highway 101.

Members of the public must provide their own transportation.

The Fish Restoration and Enhancement Program was created by the Oregon State Legislature in 1989, and is funded by a surcharge on sport and commercial fishing licenses and commercial poundage fees.
