South Coast readers often have different preferences in reading material than those elsewhere. Here are the top-five sellers this week at Books By the Bay in North Bend, according to owner Trish Price:
“The Other” by David Guterson is a compelling novel set in the Pacific Northwest by the author of “Snow Falling on Cedars.”
“Yum-O! The Family Cookbook” is Rachel Ray’s newest.
Richard Preston, author of “The Hot Zone,” brings us “Panic in Level 4: Cannibals, Killer Viruses, and Other Journeys to the Edge of Science.” This is another collection of the author’s most gripping scientific essays.
“The Aviary Gate” by Katie Hickman, according to IPAGE, “transports readers to exotic 16th-century Constantinople, offering the rarest glimpse into the forbidden confines of the sultan’s harem.”
“The True Meaning of Smekday” by Adam Rex is the story of a 12-year-old girl who writes an essay six months after an alien race has taken over Earth. This hilarious tale will be sure to entertain your bored pre-teens this summer.
