Reedsport Police officers arrested two teenagers, following a report of kids on the roof of the Highland Elementary School.

At about 1:19 a.m., Reedsport Police officers went to the school at 2605 Longwood Drive, where they found 19-year-old Derek E. Stroop and a 17-year-old boy on the roof. A Reedsport Police Department spokeswoman said when the teens came down, they came face-to-face with police.

Police charged Stroop with second-degree criminal trespassing, second-degree attempted burglary, possession of a burglary tool and unlawful possession of marijuana. He was taken to the Reedsport jail where he remained this morning on $13,700 bail. Police also took the younger teen into custody on second-degree criminal trespassing and second-degree attempted burglary. He was cited and released to a parent, the spokeswoman said.
