I have wondered how much does the county get of the fine. MADD likes the jail time for DUII and it seems to be a huge $$$$$ maker for the state. Nobody wants drunks on the road. And there seems to be a high rate of DWI DUII for the county and state because of the implied consent Law. remember you do not have to be drunk to get convicted of it. 0.8 is really a sucker call. they can and will convict for any amount.Still the taxes are high and people will not vote for more.

To the other “Think”: High school students (usually between the ages of 14-18) are having sex and this has been going on for quite some time so get over it. A good parent teaches their children to take responsibility when they make a poor decision. Making mistakes gives us an opportunity to learn. I think it is shameful that you would threaten in such a way and it gives the appearance you would take the law into your own hands. What example are you setting for your children? Why should the rest of the taxpayers be held financially accountable if your child consents to sex before he/she is legally allowed to?
Parents should teach their children values by example and work issues out in a civil way. This is only one example but I do not believe this burden needs to be carried by the taxpayers.

There are too many laws that make no sense and keep law enforcement from doing what we really need them to do. Increasing their funding via taxes is not going to help the situation; they will just need more money later. We need to send a strong message to law enforcement and our elected public officials to fix the real problem before they drain our pocket books.

Food for thought:
When LE surveys a community, without exception the number one concern is "speeding vehicles" in their neighborhood (yes, even over the crackhouse down the street).
Being in law enforcement, I'd love to spend time on speeding vehicles, yet in reality we have very little spare time to run traffic.
We're accused of "focusing on drugs." Yet again, I'd love to focus on drugs, but don't have the time.
Unfortunately for this community, police are asked to babysit. We break your drunk fights up, tell your neighbor to turn the stereo down, tell the neighbor kid to stop throwing his ball into your yard, etc.
75% of the time LE does the things you are too lazy to do. Take the initiative and be a responsible citizen, and free up some of LE's resources for important things.

The taxes recieved by the county has never been adequate to fund the county services period. I think the cities should be billed for custody's picked up in their city..Meaning medical, feeding, lodging, mental health, cost of supervision (P&P) ect.. Prices should be raised at all parks, all county services including clinics, drop every free, services should become competitive with the real world.

You get what you pay for... or have elected in this case... the other elected county government officials need to get a handle on what really matters to people in the county and figure out what to cut to make the budget balance.
