North Bend Police Officers Bill Downing, left, and Jon Bohanan circle a house with police dog Bruno in the 1800 block of Maple Street on Monday, while searching for a suspect.  The incident began when Bohanan attempted to pull over a driver for speeding on Virginia Avenue. The short chase ended one block over on California Street, where the suspect then jumped out of his car and ran on to Maple Street, disappearing between some houses. Police called off the search at 8:20 p.m. and made no arrests.

The suspect fled into the neighborhood on Maple Street between California and Connecticut streets in North Bend on foot after attempting to elude Bohanan in a car. The car’s passengers, a 19-year-old North Bend woman and her 1-year-old daughter, were not hurt during a one-block police chase.-World Photo by Alex Powers
