Very unoriginal postings here by Wilson and Russell.
Industry experts say Democrats are wrong that the leases are not being used. Many leased areas are under evaluation and development to find out if they have any oil, a process that can take years, says the American Petroleum Institute.

Roger asks: "Is anyone in this country listening to anything?" Yes, I am listening and am listening to Peter DeFazio. He is sponsoring H.R.6251 the Use It or Lose It Act. He points out that the oil companies currently hold over 10,000 leases they are not drilling. The Republicans in Congress claim that 85 percent of the Outer Continental Shelf is blocked from oil and gras drilling. This misleading statistic refes to acerage, not a actual oil and gas deposits. 82 percent of the natural gas deposits and 79 percent of the oil deposits are located in areas currently leased and fully accessible. Congress is not blocking the drilling, the greed of the oil companies are, why would they spend money to drill and lower the price they get on oil from the old wells?

Many attempts have been made by energy companies to build reactors AND oil refineries. Democrats have not approved a single one.

No new refineries? Not so!
According to Sen. John Thune, R-S.D.
Elk Point, Union County South Dakota approved a zoning change that would allow a crude oil refinery on June 3, 2008
