The Fred Meyer Fund recently sent grants to three nonprofit South Coast organizations working with children and teenagers.

In all, the fund awarded 38 grants totaling $190,540, a press release said. The money went to these three groups:

* Bandon Community Teen Center received $3,612 for computer lab equipment.

* Bob Belloni Ranch Inc. of Coos Bay got $1,500 for Independent Living services for youth.

* The Compassionate Friends of Brookings received $1,000 for Sibling Group supplies.

The 11-year-old Fred Meyer Fund has awarded more than $9 million in grants and focuses on organizations that work toward youth development or hunger reduction. The fund is supported by donations from Fred Meyer associates, donations from the company and donations from customers through the change boxes at the cash registers.
