Roseburg Pepsi and Ashland stayed alive in the American Legion A State Tournament with wins in elimination games on Sunday at Clyde Allen Field.
Roseburg advanced to play North Coos in an elimination game at noon today, while Ashland meets unbeaten North Medford at 4 p.m., needing another victory to stay alive.
Roseburg Pepsi 8, Grants Pass Miners 7
Josh Davis had a pair of two-run doubles to help the Bottlecaps build an 8-3 lead and Roseburg held on for the win to eliminate the Miners.
The Bottlecaps scored three runs in the first and three more in the fourth, but had to hold on after Grants Pass had two runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth and threatened in the seventh.
Nick Bellenbaum singled to lead off the inning, but was thrown out trying to steal second. Mike Suthann then singled and Seth Aamatti hit into a fielder’s choice. Roseburg reliever Joe Emery got Dylan Armanino to pop out to first base with the tying run in scoring position to end the game.
Tyler Bullock had three runs for the Bottlecaps and Vince Ampi had two hits and two runs. Micah Audiss had a double and single, scoring one run and driving in another, and Blake Cupp had a pair of singles.
Dylan Albertson had two doubles and two runs for the Miners, while Armanino had a double and a single and also scored twice. Bellenbaum, Suthann and Taylor Bars also had two hits each.
Ashland 13, Jake’s Crawfish 0
Garrett Tygerson had a three-run home run to help Ashland to a quick 5-0 lead in the first inning and the Pilots went on to eliminate Jake’s Crawfish from the tournament.
Ashland had eight hits in the first inning, including singles by Hayden Miller, Nick Hall, Brent Hegdahl, Brady Thomas, Max Anderson and Jake Scarminach, as well as a double by Ian Kendall and Tygerson’s blast to left field.
Kendall, Hall and Thomas each finished the game 3-for-4 and each had a double. Kendall and Hall scored three runs each and Thomas drove in three runs. Max Gordon had two hits for the Pilots.
Jake’s Crawfish got its only two hits in the second inning — singles by Micah Holmes and Sean Flores. Three Ashland pitchers combined on the two-hitter.
