Monaco Coach Corp. announces layoffs

Sunday, August 03, 2008 |
COBURG (AP) — Monaco Coach Corp. has temporarily laid off 225 production workers at its Coburg plant but said they should all be recalled within two months.
News of the layoffs came a day after the company reported second-quarter losses of $9.7 million.
The company is in the midst of moving its diesel motor home production operation to Coburg, spokesman Craig Wanichek said.
Earlier this month, Monaco announced it was closing three plants in Indiana and halving its production capability from 180 to 90 motor homes a week.
The luxury RV industry has been hard hit by high gas prices and the slumping economy.
