Rock slide knocks out power to 268 homes

A rock slide knocked down a utility pole on Coos River Highway on Thursday night, leaving more than 200 people without power.

Oregon State Police Lt. Steve Smartt said the slide occurred at 6:51 p.m., near milepost 9 of Coos River Highway.

A utility pole was damaged, knocking out power to 268 customers, said Pacific Power spokeswoman Jan Mitchell. Workers had to replace the pole and some line, and they restored electricity by 10:20 p.m., she said.
