Baseball tourney was a big success
Friday, August 01, 2008 | No comments posted.
As president of the North Bend Independent Baseball Program, I’d like to express my appreciation to the many local businesses and individuals that made our Little League All-Star tournament a success.
This event shows how contributions of all sizes can add up to a memorable achievement. Our tournament culminates five weeks of coastal All-Star tournament play (traveling as far as Lincoln City), and is a fundraiser that helps offset those tournament costs.
The event was held July 11-13 and included 17 teams, of which five were from the Willamette Valley. This nearly doubled the prior year’s participation, aided by the Mingus Park Softball Association and BACAPA’s generous use of their baseball fields. Cash or merchandise was donated from Macy’s, Grocery Outlet, Wal-Mart, Safeway, Cash & Carry, Baskin-Robbins, Qualman Oyster Farms, and Restoration and Building Services. Helping hands included the Bay Area Sunrise Rotary Club and the many families involved our program. A special thanks goes out to the North Bend Parks Department, which allocates so much of its scarce resources to assure that each of the ballfields are attractive, safe and clean. Thanks to all!
