Labeling people weakens a message

It has been said that words have no meaning. People have meaning and words are the tools to express it. Therefore, the words a person uses says more about that person’s motivation and outlook than what he is describing, especially if they are emotionally charged.
When someone uses the word ecofreaks, we know he feels threatened by those who value the enhancement of the environment, so that any criticism he might have of the actions involving environmental issues seems tainted.
The word fascist has become nothing, but an epithet expressing anger by the user at just about anything.
Many who have benefited financially from the policies of the Bush administration feel threatened by any attempt to move away from the status quo and therefore attack those who want change that may affect their status, even questioning their sanity.
