Bay Area Hospital nurse elected to national board

Julie Shuff, R.N., Oregon Nurses Association member and chairwoman of ONA’s Cabinet on Economic and General Welfare, has been elected to the American Nurses Association Board of Directors. Shuff was elected to one of the ANA’s designated staff nursing positions and has already been appointed to the ANA’s Finance Committee.

Shuff, who graduated in 1991 from Southwestern Oregon Community College, is employed with the Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay as a staff nurse in intensive care. Shuff has been a member of ONA since 1991 and was elected to the ONA Economic and General Welfare Cabinet as cabinet chair in 2007. Shuff is responsible for setting budget priorities, authorizing grievance arbitrations and setting policy for collective bargaining at ONA.

I use to work for Bay Area Hospital and I know Julie. I think that she deserves this. She seems to be really in tune with issues at the Hospital and I think she will do a great job with this.

Awsome work Julie!!! You have been such a trooper & support for other nurses. Even through tough times with a less than legal system of red-tape managers/administration...your focus & care for patient safety has always been #1...glad you are now in a National position to continue to make a difference!!
