PORTLAND (AP) — Sens. Gordon Smith and Ron Wyden say an agriculture appropriations bill headed for the Senate floor contains more than $5 million for sustainable agriculture and other farm projects in Oregon.
They say the funding also will be used for infrastructure development and for research.
Smith, a Republican, said Oregon has a long history of agriculture that has been a key factor in the state economy.
Wyden, a Democrat, says farmers and ranchers are facing some tough issues — including energy costs and environmental protection. |
