Staff writer Jessica Musicar asked several people about their favorite fair foods at the Coos County Fair Publication Wednesday.

Curly fries

“I just about have to get them. They’re delicious.”

— Ileen Post, 71, Otis, 48th year attending the Coos County Fair

 A feast on a stick

“I have to have a corn dog. It’s just something to remember. They’re good.”

— Alberta Jones, 79, Greenacres, first year attending the Coos County Fair

Undecided

“I think it’s a tossup between curly fries and a snow cone. Curly fries I’ve always had at the fair. It’s the one time I allow myself one greasy big thing a year.”

And the snow cones?

“I shy away from red and green. Red tastes like cough syrup. Sometimes I feel adventurous and get the rainbow. It’s whatever you are in the mood for.”

— Corinne Potts, 26, Coos Bay, 23rd year attending the Coos County Fair

Chicken dinner

“It’s just really good and you get a lot to eat. You get corn on the cob and a biscuit.”

— Alyssa Fortune, 19, Coquille, about 12 years attending the Coos County Fair

Three-course meal

“Curly fries, a snow cone and ... teriyaki noodles. They’re my favorite thing about the fair because they’re good.”

— Candace Barzee, 14, Myrtle Point, 14th year attending the Coos County Fair

Don’t fry for me

“I like barbecued chicken and I don’t like cooking. I like supporting the high schools and they make a really good chicken here. I don’t like all the fried stuff that’s here. It’s a healthier option.”

— Sandi Andrews, 51, Coquille, 15th year attending the Coos County Fair (gets her chicken from the Myrtle Point Project Graduation booth)

Scones

“I get one every year and it’s to support the local Boy Scouts. Every year I come here, I’ve been eating them.”

— Mike Hargis, 32, Winston, 32nd year attending the Coos County Fair

The fair isn't the fair without an italian sausage/onion/green pepper sandwich with an ice cold beer, followed by a scone (with honey).

The pulled pork sandwich at the Louisiana trailer. They also have tri-tip & pork nachos. The pulled pork sandwich is the best I've ever had. I waited a whole year to have it again and I did today!
