Authors sign books at Coos County Fair

The Fairgrounds Museum at the Coos County Fairgrounds is hosting Coos Counties authors who will be available during the fair for book signings, presentations and to discuss their current and upcoming works.

On Saturday, July 26, William A. “Bill” Lansing will be introducing and signing copies of his new book, Remember When: Coos County Oregon Schools — 1850 - 1940.  Lansing is the former president and CEO of Menasha Forest Products Corporation. This is his third book featuring the history of the Coos County area. Lansing will be available to sign books from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with presentations discussing his book at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Today features another local historian, Patti Strain. Strain is the author of Floras Creek Precinct and the Boice Family of Curry County and is presently finishing her new book concerning the Coquille Valley area. Strain is the former city manager for the city of Coquille and is active in the formation and continued success of the Coquille Valley Historical Society and Museum. She will be available to sign copies of her first book and to discuss the upcoming release from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today.

Thursday’s author will be Andie Jenson and Marilee Miller.

Jenson is a retired police sergeant who preserves the history of local law enforcement. His book Hangman’s Call: the executions and lynchings of Coos County Oregon — 1854-1925, offers a historical account of the hangings and executions which occurred within and for Coos County.

Jenson will be available at 10 a.m. to share stories from this new book and to meet family members of historical Coos County law enforcement for possible inclusion in his book.

Friday will feature Ray Mast’s book There Were No Flies In Our House. The book features stories of the people and events that occurred during Mast’s childhood in rural Coos County. Laurie Floyd, longtime friend of Mast will be on hand at 1 p.m. to share stories from this book and will have signed copies available for sale.
