Josephine County beat the South Coast All-Stars twice on Sunday to take the Southern Oregon State Babe Ruth tournament.

The Grants Pass-area team denied South Coast a trip to the regional tournament in Idaho for the second straight year.

South Coast beat Josephine County 9-8 on Saturday morning, rallying from an 8-4 deficit in the final three innings.

But needing just one win on Sunday to take the tournament, South Coast came up short twice. Josephine County won Sunday’s first game 6-3 and took the championship game 9-5.

Jordan Brown had two hits, including a triple, and scored two runs for Josephine County in the final game. He also drove in three runs.

Ryan Johnson had two hits for South Coast, while Nic Canaday and Kane Rowley each had doubles.

Josephine County won the game with four runs in the sixth inning, taking advantage of two errors by South Coast.

In the earlier game, Brown and Levi Darling each had two hits for Josephine County and Christian Reyes pitched a complete game.

Ryan Love and Canaday each had two hits for South Coast in the losing effort.

More information about the tournament, as well as linescores and summaries from all the weekend games, will be included in Tuesday’s edition of The World.
