ATV dune crashes injure two people

Two people were hurt in all-terrain vehicle accidents Saturday, according to local law enforcement.
A Roseburg woman was hurt on Bull Run in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation area. According to the Coos County Sheriff’s Office, Angela Gilbert, 37, had a head-on collision while driving a four-wheeler. Sgt. Pat Downing said the department had no further information.
She was taken to Bay Area Hospital, where she was treated and released.
A California man was injured Saturday in an all-terrain-vehicle accident near Winchester Bay.
According to a Douglas County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, at about 3:15 p.m., a 2008 Polaris ATV was motoring near the fourth parking lot of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area when it hit a razorback dune at high speed.
The vehicle landed on its wheels, but the impact jolted the operator, Matt Clifton, 37, of San Bernardino, Calif.
Ambulance crews took him to Lower Umpqua Hospital in Reedsport after he complained of hip, back, head and leg pain. A hospital spokeswoman said Clifton was treated and transferred to Oregon Health & Science University. No further information was available.
