Snowball preview

Snowball’s Chance is gearing up for two hours of performance Saturday as part of the Oregon Coast Music Festival.

Their noon show will be at the Shore Acres State Park. It is free to the public.

The Southwestern Oregon Community College-based band plays a wide variety of music from big band and swing to jazz and blues. Band leader Paul Vandervort said their eclectic selection is based on what sounds the band likes to play.

Snowball’s Chance performance is driven by the audience. Band members will be wearing Hawaiian shirts for the performance. Vandervort said he hopes that people attending the show will also wear the flowered shirts.

The more shirts they see in the audience, the more energy in the band’s performance, he said.

Revenge at the Egyptian

Molly’s Revenge will play the Egyptian Theatre Saturday at 7:30 p.m.   

The Celtic band  combines bagpipes, whistle, fiddle and song. Their arrangements modernize traditional Celtic jigs and reels.

Tickets cost $15, $13 for members and $5 for students.

Contemporary inspiration

Lisa Marie Buster will perform in a contemporary style at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Bay Area Church of the Nazarene, 1850 Clark St., North Bend.

Whitty performance

George Whitty is a keyboardist Emmy-nominated composer, Grammy-winning producer and mix engineer who will perform 2 p.m. Sunday at the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology Boathouse, 63466 Boat Basin Road, Charleston. The show cost $25. His recording resume includes hits such as Santana’s “Supernatural” (with Dave Matthews) and Celion Dion’s “Falling into You.”

“Oregon’s Own” 234 Army Band will perform the third concert of Riverfront Rhythms at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Pacific Auditorium at Reedsport Junior/Senior High School, 2260 Longwood Drive.  

The 234 Army Band, a 40 piece band, will play a variety of music from marches, concert classics, big band jazz and rock and roll.  Tickets are free and will be available at the door the evening of the performance.
