South Coast Babe Ruth has chosen three teams for the upcoming Southern Oregon state all-star tournaments, including one event to be held in North Bend.

Baseball players from Florence, Coquille, Myrtle Point, Bandon, Port Orford, Lakeside, Mapleton, Coos Bay and North Bend were selected for the various teams, which are in action in preparation tournaments this weekend.

The state events are next weekend, with the 13- to 15-year-old tournament at Clyde Allen Field.

The South Coast’s 13- to 15-year-old team includes Mike Bennett of Port Orford; Nic Canaday, Ryan Love, Kyle Davis and Armando Rangel of Myrtle Point; Hagen Holmes of Mapleton; Tyler Davidson, Ryan Johnson, Cody Prescott and Kane Rowley of Coos Bay; Kaunner Jackson and Jimmy Mack of Bandon; Tim Raybould of Florence; and Hank Silva of North Bend. The team’s coaches are Dan Raybould of Florence, Jim Mack of Bandon and Quintin Hall of Coos Bay.

The South Coast’s 14-year-old team consists of Cody Anderson of Lakeside; Jason Atkins, Tanner Canaday, Taylor Love, Clint Burris and Eric Rains of Myrtle Point; Zac Holloway of Mapleton; Raymond Jones of Coos Bay; Max Peters and Timmy Young of Bandon; and Riley Rankin, Austin Morris and Sonny Tupua of Florence. The team’s coaches are Dan Rankin of Florence, Tim Young of Bandon and Randy Canaday of Myrtle Point.

The 13-year-old team includes Nick Cole, Hayden Davisson, Michael Hampton, Duke Mitchell and Lucas Qualman of North Bend; Joshua Iabichello, Alex Snow and Jake Thompson of Florence; Tyler Johnson and Zach Thrall of Coos Bay; Matt Miranda of Myrtle Point; Eric Paige of Coquille; and Ryan Smith of Mapleton. The coaches are Mike Elliot of Mapleton, Jon Thompson of Florence and John Qualman of North Bend.

The 14-year-old state tournament will be held in Klamath Falls, with the 13-year-old tournament in Eagle Point.

The older age group will be at Clyde Allen Field for a tournament that will include just four teams this summer and last just three days.

Normally, as many as eight teams participate in the event, but this year there are no squads from the Medford area or communities that surround it, or from the rural areas of Klamath County. The South Coast also has just one team.

The tournament starts Friday, when the South Coast All-Stars face Umpqua Valley at 5:30 p.m., followed by Josephine County against Klamath Falls.

Three more games are scheduled Saturday, followed by the championship contest on Sunday.

The winner of the Southern Oregon State Tournament advances to the regional touranment at Lewiston, Idaho. The regional tournament for the 14-year-old division is in Twin Falls, Idaho, with the regional for the 13-year-old group is at Kelso, Wash.
