Bay Area Teen Idol continues Thursday at the Egyptian Theatre in downtown Coos Bay. The show starts at 6 p.m.
The competition will continue at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 24, at the Coos County Fair in Myrtle Point.
It will move back to the Egyptian Theatre Thursdays, July 31, Aug. 7, 14 and 28. Contestants also will perform at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Blackberry Arts Festival.
The final and awards ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Bay Area Fun Festival. The winner will receive a $1,600 prize package that includes a one-term scholarship to Southwestern Oregon Community college in addition to cash.
The competition provides a way to encourage youth to become involved and be part of the solution for reducing the usage of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs by minors in Coos County.
