Ambulance crews took a Washington woman to the hospital Monday after her all-terrain vehicle crashed on the dunes near Winchester Bay.

According to a Douglas County Sheriff’s Office press release, a 2004 Yamaha Banshee was northbound on the sand east of the third beach parking lot  at 2:15 p.m. when it crashed. The rider, Krissy Hall, 41, of Snohomish, Wash., was taken to Lower Umpqua Hospital with a significant laceration to her right inner thigh. According to a hospital spokeswoman, Hall was treated and released.

Ambulance crews also took a Tenmile boy to the hospital Monday after his motorcycle crashed into a Jeep Cherokee north of the Horsfall Beach parking lot.

According to Coos County Sheriff’s Office press log and spokesman, a deputy was contacted by Markus Miller, 16, at about 2:43 p.m., who told him he had been involved in an accident. Miller had a cut to his left hand and was taken to Bay Area Hospital, where he was treated and released, a spokeswoman said.

Sgt. Pat Downing said the identity of the Jeep driver is unknown, as there is no requirement for vehicle drivers to exchange information on the dunes.
