Accident

Oregon state troopers arrested a Coos Bay man on drunken-driving and other charges Saturday after the vehicle he was operating crashed off U.S. Highway 101 south of Coos Bay.

According to an OSP press release, a 1990 Honda Civic was northbound on Highway 101 near milepost 240 when it left the roadway at about 10:15 p.m. The vehicle struck a fog marker, then traveled another 100 yards before hitting a utility pole.

The driver, Matthew J. Schueneman, 26, was initially taken to Bay Area Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Police then arrested him on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. He was taken to Coos County jail, where he was booked and later released on citation.
