KLAMATH FALLS (AP) — The full 33-mile distance around Crater Lake National Parks Rim Drive opens soon.

The roads opening was delayed until today because of heavier than normal snow fall and a series of rock falls. The road around the lake offers several places for people to get lake views.

The opening also means that lake tours are starting for the season.

Crews battle fire in Warm Springs area

WARM SPRINGS — Crews are trying to contain an 1,800 acre fire that’s spread across the Warm Springs Indian Reservation to federal and private lands nearby.

Already, the Mill Fire has destroyed one tribal guest home and an outbuilding.

Crews closed down nearby Highway 26 for a while yesterday, but have since reopened the highway.

Additionally, private farm crops were also threatened near Rattlesnake Canyon, in between Warm Springs and Madras.

The fire started near the Warm Spring Forest Products Industry lumber mill on the Warm Springs Reservation. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause.
