The Three Rivers Sandblasters got off to a slow start in the Papa’s Pizza tournament at Eugene on Wednesday, dropping a 16-8 decision to Treasure Valley.

The Sandblasters fell behind early, but rallied to pull within 11-8 before Treasure Valley scored five times in the seventh to put the game away.

The team’s best highlight was the effort of pitcher Travis Iverson, who had five solid innings of relief.

“It was his best outing of the summer,” said Three Rivers coach Alex Morales.

The Sandblasters play the host Eugene Challengers tonight.
