The Oregon Junior Amateur’s first trip to the South Coast wrapped up Friday with seven champions crowned at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort.

The tournament, which started with more than 250 junior golfers, was deemed a success by Oregon Golf Association officials.

On a busy Independence Day, the winners of the championship flights for the seven divisions were determined in the “March of Champions” on the Bandon Dunes course.

Winners of several other flights also were determined Friday, with golfers who had earlier lost in championship flights or been put in lower flights after the qualifying round earlier in the week vying for their trophies. But the big matches were for the division winners.

In the intermediate boys (12- and 13-year-olds) division, Conor Oliver of Sandy beat medalist Beau Scott of Washougal, Wash., in perhaps the most inspirational story of the week.

Oliver, who was diagnosed with leukemia last year, edged Scott 3 and 2 after winning four of the first eight holes of the match and then holding on as fatigue hit. Oliver also was the pee wee champion in 2006 and won the second flight in the pee wee division in 2005.

The only match to reach the 18th hole was the girls (15-17) division, where Seshia-Lei Telles of Tualatin beat close friend Amy Beth Simanton of Lake Oswego 1-up with an eagle on the final hole.

In the junior boys (16-17) age group, Bobby Monaco of Eugene beat Connor Rumpf of Sherwood 3 and 2.

The boys (14-15) champion was Alex Kang of Portland, who beat Thomas Arand of McMinnville 4 and 2. Dylan Wu of Medford beat John Nichols of La Quinta, Calif, 4 and 2 to take the pee wee boys (8-11) division.

The pee wee girls winner was Gigi Stoll of Portland, who beat Deanna Salvatori of Salem 4 and 2.

In the intermediate girls (12-14) age group, Morgan Thompson of Tualatin beat Tess Jennings of Portland 2 and 1. Thompson had only one bogey in her final 13 holes to win the match. Jennings beat medalist Monica Vaughn of Reedsport in the opening round of the championship flight. Vaughn later won the first flight.
