Richey’s Market edges Sandblasters

The Three Rivers Sandblasters put a scare into league-leading Richey’s Market of Corvallis in an American Legion Zone 3 baseball game Wednesday night, but lost 9-8 when the Corvallis squad scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Richey’s Market improved to 7-2 in league play, while Three Rivers fell to 3-5.
Three Rivers led three times in the game, but Richey’s Market rallied each time.
The Sandblasters scored in the top of the first to take an early 1-0 lead, and led 3-1 after two runs in the fourth. But the Corvallis club scored four times in the bottom of the fifth to take a 5-3 lead.
Three Rivers added a run in the sixth and scored three more in the seventh to go up 7-5. But Richey’s Market again responded with three runs in its half of the seventh.
The Sandblasters tied the game in the eighth, but ultimately fell in the final inning.
Three Rivers had plenty of offense, pounding out 16 hits, to 12 for Richey’s Market. Cole Skriver went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles. Drew Rainwater had four hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. Ethan Ottemiller added two hits and two RBIs and Tyler Mais and Rye Espinoza each had doubles.
The Sandblasters host Doc Stewarts of Roseburg on Sunday.

North Coos swept
Ashland swept visiting North Coos in a nonleague doubleheader on Wednesday, winning 21-3 and 13-9.
Little went right in the first game, when North Coos pitchers walked numerous batters while giving up just eight hits. Ashland scored 13 runs in the third inning to take a 20-3 lead.
Bryce Weidman had two hits for the Waterfront.
In the nightcap, North Coos led 8-4, but Ashland had four runs in the fifth and five more in the sixth to rally for the win.
Dalton Iveans, Sean Jany and Jake Stevens each had two hits in the loss, which dropped the Waterfront’s overall record to 11-10.
The teams meet again Sunday at Clyde Allen Field.
“Hopefully, we’ll play a little better,” said North Coos coach Quintin Hall.
