Roads open after train derails
Saturday, June 28, 2008 8:33 AM PDT

PORTLAND — A major Portland interchange is open after crews worked through the night to repair damage from a train derailment. But it will be partially closed this evening.

More than 30 rail cars carrying lumber jumped the tracks Thursday in northeast Portland at the heart of the Interstate 84 and Interstate 205 interchange.

Union Pacific crews worked quickly to remove derailed rail cars and repair tracks.

They will continue their work later today and through the night.

As a result, I-84 west bound ramps to I-205 will be closed Friday night from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
