‘Billy’s Box’

Recycle. Reuse. Titan Salvage is doing both. The majority of the New Carissa’s stern will be hauled off to a recycling facility. But at least one piece, affectionately known as “Billy’s Box,” will go back in the water. Named after the Karlissa B’s crane operator and diver Billy Stender, the former water storage container will serve as a “coffer dam” — a buffer for divers as they work in the crashing waves to salvage a crane head that fell from the wrecked ship.
