U.S. Congressman Peter DeFazio, D-Springfield, will be the keynote speaker at the opening of the new Southwest Oregon Regional Airport terminal on Tuesday, July 1. DeFazio helped obtain $3 million for a new control tower and staffing for that tower.

DeFazio’s appearance at the grand-opening gala will be from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m., according to a press release. The invitation-only gala is from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

DeFazio will be on the Oregon Coast that day to tour the Port of Brookings, Port of Port Orford and his last stop will be the new North Bend airport terminal.
