Freeman vigil set for this Saturday

A candlelight vigil will be held at 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, to celebrate the life of Leah Freeman, a 15 year-old-girl murdered in Coquille on June 28, 2000. Her murder remains unsolved. Family and friends will gather at the corner of state Highway 42 and Adams Street. There will be music; candles provided; and speeches from family, friends and members of the Coquille Police Department. All are welcome.
All day on Saturday, the owners of Fat Tuesday’s Mardi Gras Grill will donate a portion of the sales proceeds to the Leah Freeman Reward Fund. Community members are rallying to raise a reward to be offered in the case.
Fat Tuesday’s Mardi Gras Grill is located at 331 W. Highway 42, Coquille, and is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
