THE COQUILLE CHESS CLUB will host a scholastic chess tournament and waterfest starting at 10 a.m. Saturday at LaVerne Park.  For more information, call Nancy Keller  396-3111 or e-mail drnancykeller@yahoo.com.

THE SOUTH COAST CHAPTER OF THE USADANCE ASSOCIATION is sponsoring a one-hour lesson in the Bronze Fox Trot, to be followed by open dancing, at 7 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church hall, 123 Ocean Blvd., Coos Bay. Price for both the lesson and dance is $3 for members and $6 for nonmembers. Beginners are welcome.

NO LAZY KATES will spin at The Wool Company, 990 U.S. Highway 101, beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday. For more information, call 347-3115.

THE SOUTHWESTERN OREGON ROSE SOCIETY will host their annual Rose Show on Saturday and Sunday at the Pony Village Mall, 1611 Virginia Ave., North Bend. SETS IN ORDER SQUARE AND ROUND DANCE CLUB will hold a square dance on Saturday, June 28, at the Coquille Community Building, 115 N. Birch. Pre-rounds will begin at 7:30 p.m., with Denise Harris; and square dancing is scheduled for 8, with Dale Roberson calling.

SUPPORTERS of presidential candidate Barack Obama are invited to an ice-cream social at 1 p.m. Saturday at the gazebo in Barrone Park, on Longwood and Ranch roads, Reedsport. For more information, call Richard at (541) 271-9512.

AMATEUR RADIO OPERATORS of Coos County Radio Club will meet 11 a.m. Saturday to 11 a.m. Sunday  at Bastendorff Beach for a weekend of camping to test emergency communications. The public is invited to attend. Follow the signs to the site.

CLASSES ON BODY AWARENESS are offered from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturdays, at the First Presbyterian Church, 438 Elrod Ave. For more information, those interested can call Dee Hamil at 888-4946.

DANCE LESSONS will be offered from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturdays at the Bandon Grange Farwest Hall on state Highway 42 South, just east of U.S. Highway 101. A dance follows the lessons from 8:30 to 10 p.m. For more information,  call 756-6998 or 347-5626.
