PORTLAND — Clackamas County authorities say a young man was hospitalized after a shotgun loaded with birdshot accidentally discharged, striking him in the chest, chin and face.

The sheriff’s office says the man was part of a group taking target practice east of Sandy late Tuesday afternoon.

The victim’s name has not been released, but he is in his 20s.

A LifeFlight helicopter took him to Portland’s Legacy Emanuel Hospital. His condition has not been released.
