VA plans town hall meetings

Monday, June 23, 2008 |
The Roseburg Veterans Affairs staff will host two town hall meetings Wednesday in Bandon and North Bend to discuss plans to build its new clinic in North Bend.
Roseburg VA Healthcare System Director Susan Yeager and staff will be on hand at the VFW Post No. 3440 at 55352 Bates Road in Bandon from 3 to 4 p.m., and at the Pony Village Mall, Suite 151 in North Bend from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to answer questions. Veterans and the public are welcome and refreshments will be served, a press release said.
In April, the Roseburg VA announced plans to close its Bandon clinic and build a bigger facility on a site west of the Pony Village Mall near the intersection of Marion Avenue and 12th Street.
It will be just shy of 10,000 square feet, about 4,000 square feet larger than the existing clinic in Bandon. The new clinic is designed to provide non-urgent primary care and mental health services to more than 2,000 veterans.
Sharon Carlson, assistant to the Roseburg VA director, said the new clinic will have the same number of staff as the Bandon facility but will be designed to provide more timely service to veterans.
