Coquille High School announced in April that it is one of the top 250 earning groups nationally in Safeway’s recent 10 percent Back to Schools Program. As one of the top groups, Safeway contributed an additional $1,000 for a grand total of $3,136.62 to the school.

“We appreciate Safeway and their ongoing commitment to education and our local schools,” said Cheryl Waddington, who coordinates the program at the High School. “Because of Safeway’s participation in the eScrip program our school will be able to provide programs and services that will benefit all of our students.”

Schools earned 10 percent of items purchased by school supporters this past summer. To date, the eScrip program has generated more than $180 million in merchant contributions to schools and organizations across the country. Through the six-week program, Safeway stores contributed more than 3 million dollars to schools.

For more information on the program at CHS, those interested can call Cheryl Waddington at 396-2163.
