This weekendRhythm workTwo TaKeTiNa Rhythm workshops will be held this summer in Coos Bay. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays, June 28, and Aug. 9.
The workshops will be led by speech pathologist Oshi and psychotherapist Nancy Gordon. They are Basic Level TaKeTiNa teachers that are training for advanced certification.

Unity saleUnity of Bandon’s Annual Rummage & Bake Sale will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. There will be no price tags; all items will be offered on a donation basis. The primary focus of the sale is to place items no longer in use back into circulation, a press release said.
Items available will include books, household items, tools, clothing, etc.

Ice cream ministryThe Williams Family will bring its traveling ministry to the First Baptist Church, 1140 N. 10th St., Coos Bay, at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
The evening will feature bluegrass gospel music, puppet shows, inspiriational skits and balloon animals. It will be followed by a free ice cream social hosted by the membership department of the church.
The Williams are a family of five who have traveled throughout the United States and Canada for 15 years, ministering to communities like Coos Bay and North Bend, a press release said.
A love offering will be taken.
Next monthFarmers marketThe Bandon Little Farmers Market’s regular season will begin Saturday, July 5, for 12 weeks, ending on Sept. 20.
In its ninth year, the market will be located at the courtyard of Tea-by-the-Sea and the Oregon Wine Tasting Room, 350 Second St.
USDA WIC and Senior Nutrition vouchers are welcomed by vendors for fresh fruit and vegetables.
Vendor space is free to all home-grown and handmade items, with a suggested donation of 10 percent of overall sales at the end of the day. Each vendor is provided with a space in the market area, a table and chair. For more information, call 347-9081 or e-mail

Showing off puppiesThe Coos Kennel Club’s annual all-breed dog show will be held Saturday, July 5, and Sunday, July 6 at Bandon High School and Harbor Lights Middle School.
More than 450 dogs are expected to participate in the show, which also will feature 12 vendors. Confirmation, obedience and rally trials will be held both days. At 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 5. A more detailed schedule of events will be available at the show or by calling Penni Fields at 267-6356.
The Bandon High School cheerleaders will hold their annual pancake breakfast both mornings of the event, and the BHS football team will offer hot dogs and hamburgers. The event is free and open to the public.

Senior driving With costs rising, seniors need to review their finances and save wherever possible. One way is to reduce car insurance costs by taking the AARP Safe Driving Class. Organizers have scheduled a class Thursday and Friday, July 17-18, in Reedsport.
It will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Covenant United Methodist Church, 3520 Frontage Road, Reedsport.

All insurance companies doing business in Oregon must offer a discount to people older than 55 who complete the class.
The discount is given, in addition, to all other discounts received by a policy holder. People younger than 55 also can take the class but will not receive a discount on their insurance.
Red hot funThe Red Hat Hoot will be held at 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., July 26, at the Mill Casino-Hotel’s Salmon Room, 3201 Tremont St., North Bend.
The event includes a catered lunch by The Mill and a day full of entertainment and games. The theme is “Red Hatters Have Fun.”
Tickets will be available through July 12 or until 200 tickets are sold.
