The Coquille Valley English Handbell Choir will perform at 6 p.m. on Sunday at the North Bend First Baptist Church, 2080 Marion St. Tickets are available at Downtown Fun Zone in Port Orford and online from ConcertTickets@ZionLutheranPortOrford.org. Tickets are $7.50, with 18 and younger admitted free.

Monday

The 2008 summer swim lessons at the Highland pool are taking place at this time. There are four different classes and space is limited begin Monday at 10 a.m. with the Parent and Tot class. For more information, class schedules, call  (541) 271-9222.

The “Campaign for Liberty Group” is sponsoring a meet the candidate event.  Republican Al Pearn, of Florence, candidate for state representative in the ninth district, will speak at 5 p.m. during the group’s meeting Monday in the ESD Building, 1350 Teakwood Ave., Coos Bay. Pearn will offer people a chance to ask questions about his candidacy and views.  

An Inoka support group is held every Monday from noon to 1:30 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 795 Franklin Ave., in Bandon. There is an initial charge of $10 for books and materials. The support group is sponsored by the Women’s Safety & Resource Center. For more information about the center, those interested can call 888-1048. Pinochle players will gather at 1 p.m., Monday and 1 p.m. Thursday at the Bay Area Senior Center, on the corner of Fourth Street and Ingersoll Avenue.

Bridge lessons will be offered from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. each Monday at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 400 Highland Ave., in Coos Bay.

The Coquille Valley Senior Computer Club will meet at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday each month at the Coquille High School library, 499 W. Central Blvd. All seniors who are at least 55 years old are welcome to attend. For more information, those interested can call Bob Kimball at 396-4971.

HOT MEALS FOR SENIORS: Bay Area Senior Activity Center offers soups, salads, entrées and desserts at 11:30 a.m. each day except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Cost is $3.50 for BASAC members, $4 for non-members. The resale shop is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. BASAC is located at 886 S. Fourth St., Coos Bay. THE NORTH BEND SENIOR CENTER’S luncheon program is available to everyone, not just seniors. Buffet-style meals are available from 11:45 a.m. until everyone is served, Monday through Friday. Meals cost $5 and monthly menus are available. For more information, those interested can call 756-7622.
