The Three Rivers Sandblasters earned a 9-7 win over host Eugene on Thursday in an American Legion game.
Tyler Mais had a two-run home run in the ninth inning, scored three runs and also picked up the save after Eugene had loaded the bases and cut a five-run lead to two.
Mais was one of six players with at least two hits as the Sandblasters pounded out 15 hits in the game.
Scott Buche had a triple and two RBIs and also pitched six solid innings to pick up the win on the mound.
Cole Skriver, Ethan Ottemiller, Drew Rainwater and Rye Espinoza also had two hits in the game. Skriver, Espinoza and Crowe had doubles and Rainwater drove in two runs.
“It was a good win for us,” said Jim Dietz, who helps with the team.
He was pleased with the efforts of Buche, who gave up just two runs, and Mais in relief. Dietz also was quick to credit Espinoza of Mapleton, who wasn’t able to play in the spring because the school dropped its program, and 15-year-old Crowe from Newport.
