Reedsport has its own mule whisperers
Tuesday, June 17, 2008 11:00 AM PDT

A pair of elusive mules foiled all attempts at capture Monday night until Reedsport police officers called in the experts — two Reedsport High School equestrian team members.

According to a Reedsport Police press release, at 10:08 p.m., two mules were reported loose in the Hemlock Court and Ranch Road area. Two Reedsport Police officers, an off-duty Douglas County Sheriff’s deputy and three members of an ambulance crew tried for some time to capture them.

Those mules were fast.

Fast that is, until the professionals arrived.

Equestrian team members Amanda Foote and Anna Timm made quick work of reining in the mules. They walked right up to them and put halters on them without having to chase the animals, the press release said.

Amanda and Anna then enticed the mules to walk to a pasture more than a mile away.
