Bandon Public Library will begin its summer reading program at 10:30 a.m. with Camp Read-A-Lot for readers ages 5 and 6. Participants will track their reading progress and earn surprises along the way. The Wednesday Afternoon Speaker Series will be held from 1 to 3 p.m.  at The Venture Inn - Inland Point Senior Estates, 2265 Inland Drive, North Bend. Don Landes, an attorney since 1978, will present information to seniors regarding probate, trusts, durable power of attorney for healthcare, contract law, business, commercial and private real estate law and litigation all aspects of senior legal concerns. Refreshments will be provided.

James Oakey will speak at 2 p.m. on “Legal and Financial Issues When a Family Member Has Alzheimer’s” at the Alzheimer’s’ Association education meeting at the North Bend Public Library, 1800 Sherman Ave.The meeting is open to the public.  For more information, those interested can call 345-8392.

An AL-ANON support meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Coos Bay, 123 Ocean Blvd.

A post traumatic stress disorder support group is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Southwestern Oregon Veterans Outreach office, suite 208 in the Pony Village Mall, 1611 Virginia Ave., North Bend. The meeting will end at 8 p.m. The group will be facilitated by Mark Winders, a Vietnam War U.S. Marine Corps veteran. It is a peer-to-peer group. One-on-one meetings also are available. Free counseling for combat veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and a specialized group for World War II and Korean Conflict veterans will be held at 2 p.m. For more information, those interested can call the Eugene Vet Center’s Coos County contracted counselor, Susan Aviotti, LPC, at 756-7748.

HOT MEALS FOR SENIORS: Bay Area Senior Activity Center offers soups, salads, entrées and desserts at 11:30 a.m.  Wednesdays through Fridays. Cost is $3.50 for BASAC members, $4 for non-members.
