Curtain call coming
This is the last weekend the Bandon Playhouse will present the screwball romantic comedy “You Can’t Get There from Here” at the Sprague Community Theater in Bandon. Saturday’s show begins at 7:30 p.m.; and the Sunday curtain rises is at 2 p.m.
Kathie Lecce, of Bandon, directs this Frank Capra-esque comedy full of small-town witticisms aimed at the heart of any audience, according to a press release. Pam Hansen, Bandon, is the producer.
The play centers on the Mavis Garner Bed and Breakfast, which gets most of its customers when their cars are disabled after they hit the city-authorized pothole on Elm Street. A reporter tries to dig up what’s going on in this small town.

The On Broadway Thespians Inc. will present the romantic comedy “Same Time Next Year.” It opened Friday and performances continue through June 29.
Offered as another OBT dinner theater production at Gussie’s Restaurant, curtain times are 6 p.m. for Friday and Saturday performances; Sunday matinees begin at 2 p.m.
Directed by Cherish Merrit, the play tells the compelling story of a couple, George and Doris, who, while married to other people, develop a special relationship in which they meet once a year at a country inn for a weekend together. George is played by Jeff Roberts, with the role of Doris performed by Leatha Lewison-Gonzalez.
“Same Time Next Year” was written by Canadian actor, playwright and TV sitcom writer Bernard Slade, most known for creating the sitcoms “The Flying Nun” and “The Partridge Family.”
Gussie’s is located at 1088 Newmark Avenue, across from the Empire 7-11 in Empire.
Adult tickets are $10 for evening shows and $8 for matinees. Tickets for children under 12 cost $7 for all showings. Due to adult content, children must be accompanied by an adult or guardian.

Coquille’s Sawdust Theatre’s 42nd season is in full swing with its summer showing of “Recipe for Disaster, or Camilla’s Culinary Quandary.”
The show runs through Aug. 30. Performances are at 8 p.m. Saturdays. Tickets are $12.50.
The show is written by Cindy Robnett and Edna Cotner and directed by Cotner and Marcella Russell. Olios are directed by Robnett and Lynda Poe.
The play is based on the life of Camilla Rietman, who donated to the theater and a variety of institutions in Coquille and Oregon.

Strumming his six-string
The Pistol River Concert Association proudly presents Eric Taylor at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Pistol River Friendship Hall.
Some of his songs have been performed by people such as Nanci Griffith and Lyle Lovett. Taylor is a sage musician, a lyrical genius and a master of the guitar. He learned intricate blues guitar style from music legends Lightnin' Hopkins, Mance Lipscomb and Mississippi Fred McDowell while working at the Family Hand club. He later developed his own guitar picking style that would be imitated by many of his contemporaries from the early Houston days, such as , Townes Van Zandt, Lyle Lovett, Steve Earle, a press release said.

Moving to the music
Starting Saturday, dance lessons will be offered at 7:30 p.m. at the Bandon Grange Farwest Hall on state Highway 42 South, just east of U.S. Highway 101. A dance follows the lessons. Those attending can wear casual clothing, and singles and couples are welcome. There is no charge but donations will be accepted to support grange activities. Exotic moves
The 26th annual Belly Dancer USA competition starts Saturday at The Mill Casino-Hotel, 3201 Tremont Ave., North Bend.
A special show at 8 p.m. Saturday will feature live music with the Eugene band Americanistan. Nadira, Belly Dancer USA 2007, will teach a dance workshop at 10 a.m. Saturday on belly dance technique.
Tickets cost $10 for the Saturday competition, $12 for the Sunday competition and $10 for the Saturday evening show. The belly dancing workshop is $35.
