The Riverfront Rhythms 2008 Concert Series will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 13, on the waterfront at the Umpqua Discovery Center in Reedsport. The concert will feature the “Young Bucs.”

The On Broadway Thespians Inc. will open its presentation of the romantic comedy “Same Time Next Year.” Performances will run through June 29 and will be at Gussie’s Restaurant. The Friday Foreign Film series at Coos Bay Public Library will continue at 7 p.m. This month’s feature is “Osama” (2003), an international co-production between companies in Afghanistan, the Netherlands, Japan, Ireland and Iran, and the first entirely Afghan film shot since the rise and fall of the Taliban.The Friday Foreign Film series is held on the second Friday of the month and is free to the public. An exhibit of watercolor images by Terry Magill are on display at the South Slough Interpretive Center gallery. The interpretive center is on Seven Devils Road south of Charleston. Her work will be on display at South Slough through May 31.
Overeaters Anonymous offers a program of recovery from compulsive overeating using the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions based on those from Alcoholics Anonymous. There are no fees or weigh-ins. The local Retired and Senior Volunteer Program specializes in connecting volunteers who are 55 years of age and older with community organizations that need volunteers. Volunteers are placed in every aspect of the community to share their skills, interests and life experience.

Many report that they have been able to get involved in something they have cared about their whole life, but just never got to help out.
