Artwalk!, a self-directed tour of art displays and culture in historic North Bend and Coos Bay, is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday. CharlestonThe Wood Company6330 Boat Basin Road, 888-5300, will feature the art of David Castleberry for its first Artwalk. Castleberry will be there to discuss his works, and refreshments will be served. The Wood Company features handcrafted solid wood furnishings, with a showroom and an art gallery. It is located in Oyster Cove Square. It will hold its formal grand opening event from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, June 21 and 22.
The event will showcase solid wood handcrafted furnishings designed and built by wood craftsman Steve Grove. The art gallery, with more than 3,500 square feet of display space, will feature the works of David Castleberry, Dan Dunn and other local favorites. Catering will be provided by Four Seasons Catering, and wine will be served by Old Coyote Winery.
Coos BayCoos Art Museum235 W. Anderson Ave., will feature “Images of Nature,” a collection of watercolors and pastels by Kimberly Wurster, winner the People’s Choice Award at the Coos Art Museum Biennial. The Wurster exhibition will be in the Uno E. Richter Atrium Gallery through June 28.
Wurster creates her paintings primarily in watercolor and pastel, sometimes using ink and other forms of mixed media. She enjoys painting a variety of subjects including landscapes, but has a particular fondness for birds and wildlife, a press release said. Her work has achieved international recognition as well as numerous awards in domestic competition.
Along with Images of Nature the museum features the exhibits “Expressions West 2008” in the Maggie Karl Gallery and Perkins Gallery and “Reality Check: The Uneasy Still Lives of Gary Fagin” in the Mabel Hansen Gallery.
Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesdays through Fridays, and 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
Siren Song135 Anderson Ave., 266-9988, will feature artist Tamarah Phillips, who specializes in oil paintings of ethereal females, a press release said.
EmpireJava Jones Coffee House757 Newmark Ave., 888-4477, will feature the oil and acrylic art of Ermie Goodrich and new showings of raku pottery by Laurie Lee. Musician Bill York will provide acoustic guitar and vocal music from 5 to 8 p.m. There also will be an open artists’ workshop, where any artist can come in and draw, paint or work on other art. All artists are welcome. Unique refreshments will be served.
Empire Flea Market1070 Newmark Ave., 260-9500, next to Gussies, will feature in its new art department photographs by Ben Fisher and watercolors by Kristen Laurel of Southern Oregon. Refreshments will be served.
North Bend Colette’s3229 Broadway Ave., suites H and I, 751-1475, will exhibit photography by Mike Holm and serve refreshments.
Coos Head Food Store1960 Sherman Ave., 756-7264. The Great Outdoors is the Artwalk theme at Coos Head Food Store this month. Author Tom Baake will be at Coos Head signing his book “Out Our Backdoor.” He also will tell about his favorite adventures here in the local area. Christine will create packable, portable, easy food from the bulk department. There also will be a free wine tasting of easy to transport wine.
Crystal Dolphin Gallery1901 Sherman Ave., 756-1989, will feature local artist Sherill Finder. Finder uses real chicken, duck, goose, rhea and emu eggs to create her art. The doors on many of creations open and close. She will demonstrate how she creates her egg art and teach at the gallery in the future. There will be new stuffings for “Stuff Your Own Mushrooms.”
Easy Lane Frames & Select Art Gallery3440 Broadway Ave., 756-7638, will feature the show “Summer on the South Coast.” All 48 of the gallery artists were invited to submit an entry that depicted their image of summer here. The exhibit consists of original work in many different mediums and will be on display until July 8. Visitors can vote for the People’s Choice Winner. That artist will win a custom frame job worth up to $150. The name of one guest at the show will be drawn for a $75 gift certificate for artwork, framing or classes.
Epiphany & Co.1989 Sherman Ave. 756-7900, will feature artist Jack Richards and exhibit works by Clayton Redwood, Janne LaValle, Jack Richards, Jerry Baron and Stan Fullerton.
The Framery1774 Union Ave.. 756-0797, will have a guest artist.
North Bend Public Library1800 Sherman Ave., will not be open for the June Artwalk.
Oregon Coast School of Music2055 Union Ave. & 2660 Sherman Ave., 756-4171, will feature oil paintings by Keith Russett. Visitors can use either entrance, and parking is available off of Union Avenue.
Sozo Tea and Coffee House1955 Union Ave., offers a free 8-ounce latté and changing displays of local art.
We Sell It For You1987 Sherman Ave., 756-1961, the eBay trading assistance store, will feature an extensive selection of paintings by Patricia Hendrickson and various other artists, including Don McMichael.
Gallery 2801743 Sherman Ave., 756-5418, will feature the works of William Allen Selden at Artwalk and through June. Selden’s work encompasses all styles and mediums: acrylic, pastel, watercolor and oils. He pioneered the watercolor technique still used today by the portrait artists at Disneyland, a press release said.
Selden is best known in California for his celebrity portraits, especially the Marilyn Monroe series.

Pony Village MallThe Artist Loft GallerySuite 103, 756-4088, will feature the watercolors and collages of “Waves of all Types and Kinds” by Sharon Backues. The guest artist will be Magda Druzdzel. She paints watercolors of Oregon and has been the featured artist of International Artist Magazine. There will be a reception with refreshments.
East Wing Art Wallat the East Wing entrance, will feature the Southern Oregon Coast Photographer’s Association.
Heritage Textile Arts GuildSuite 157A, will feature hand-woven yarns, and visitors can join the knit-in. Members will help participants begin a scarf or hat. Or, visitors can provide companionship while others knit.
The Rose Palette Art Studio & GallerySuite 128, 290-7858, will feature new paintings by students, along with Priscilla Wyatt’s works. Snacks will be available. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesdays and noon to 3 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
