Curry County deputies have identified a body found in the Rogue River as that of a California man who was reported missing June 1.

According to a Curry County Sheriff’s Office press release, at about 2:15 p.m. Sunday, deputies received a call from the Clay Hill Lodge, located about 45 miles east of Gold Beach on the Rogue River, reporting the discovery of a body believed to be that of Robert Blight. The 41-year-old man had disappeared the week before after trying to swim to his raft near Paradise Creek.

Deputies located the body at about 3:49 p.m., just above the Clay Hill Rapids. Photographs of the body were relayed to Blight’s family, who confirmed his identity.

Deputies, U.S. Forest Service personnel, local tour boats, rafters and other users had participated in the search for the body every day since Blight’s disappearance. The U.S. Coast Guard had flown the entire length of the river from Paradise Creek to its mouth on Wednesday.
