North Bend police officers arrested a Coos Bay man Saturday night, following a chase through the city.

According to a North Bend Police Department press release, Coos Bay Police Department dispatchers took a report of a stolen car. Immediately after that, both departments received several reports of three cars recklessly racing around town. A Coos Bay officer located the three vehicles, including one that matched the description of the stolen car, at Brussels and Clark streets. While the officer spoke to drivers of the other cars, a 1997 Honda Civic Coupe fled the scene.

As a North Bend officer headed to the scene to assist Coos Bay, the Honda almost collided with the officer’s patrol car. A pursuit ensued.

The Honda sped through residential streets until the driver lost control of the car and crashed on Koosbay Boulevard near Nutwood Avenue. According to an Oregon State Police press release, the Honda traveled southbound on Koosbay Boulevard at speeds of 90 to 100 miles per hour, until it hit an embankment and overturned.

An ambulance took the driver, Christopher J. Page, 19, to Bay Area Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He then went to Coos County jail, on charges of four counts of reckless endangering, reckless driving and felony elude. He was later released.
